Project Overview

If you assume compacted soil weighs 120 lbs per cubic foot (on the heavy side), then a 4’ cover should only exert a point load of 4x120 = 480 psf, correct?
SITEDRAIN 186W has a verified compressive strength of >= 18,000 psf which is a FOS of about 37. It will also support machinery used to cover and compact the soil once installed.

For the flow capacity, the void areas in the SITEDRAIN 186W allow a significant volume of water to move into, within and out of the system. This flow is based upon the Hydraulic Gradient, which is closely compared to head pressure, so the higher the column of water that sits above the drain, the faster the water will flow out. With the subtle slope, either system will act as a bladder to capture hydrostatic pressure and keep it from exerting pressure onto the structure.
